Using these free writing templates during the drafting stage of writing, can help students in the writing process. These writing templates help writers explore a topic, purpose, audience, genre, and content. Drafting helps students to expand upon, clarify, and modify initial writing plans and ideas. Charts can help organize the writer’s content into a meaningful sequence or flow. They can be used at the beginning of a writing exercise in order to generate ideas and organize content. Charts can also be used after a draft has been generated in order to make sure all components have been developed well. Writing is a process. It can be different for each writer.
Below are charts that have been divided into two levels. The Four Block is for beginner to average writers. The Six Block can be used with average and above writers.
